Austria Declares War on Serbia: 28 July 1914

THIS DAY IN RMR HISTORY – 28 July1914:   On this day Austria declared war on Serbia.  Many Canadians believed the conflict would prove to be a “Balkan affair” of minor significance. Sadly such was not to be the case.  Militia units across Canada began to step up their plans for the possibility of mobilization for active duty.
