Benefits

The benefits you will have in the Reserves are great! For the most recent pay scale, visit this link.

Some of the benefits include 90% dental insurance, and half your university tuition reimbursed! The best part of serving in the reserves is guaranteed summer employment, and very flexible schedules. Furthermore, when you work away from home (like on base during summer courses) you get extra pay.

Courses are given either part time on weekends or during the summer. You can get up to 12 weeks of training during one summer, or as little as a few weeks, depending on your civilian occupation.

During summer you will be on "Class B" contract, menaing you get paid 7 days a week, even if you only work 5. If you work 12 weeks, and get $88/day that's a total of $7392 of normal pay, and to that you add more than $500 in extra pay. After a few years in the reserves, you will be earning over $125/day.

Please note that the TELUQ, UQAM's long-distance study branch, offers a study program for CF members. This is ideal for reservists in Pre-Roto or ROTO, who want to start or continue a first or second university cycle.
